Hi.
I posted a question on the General board about buying from authorized dealers regarding an HK AVR 330, and I was warned by a former HK dealer that HK is having serious quality issues and the reliability of their products is in serious question. He mentioned that that was why the $700 AVR 330 could be found for less than $500.I took his comment with a grain of salt and asked to be notified when the out of stock unit arrived at J and R. Within minutes of the request I got a seemingly automated e-mail response that said the mfr was not shipping this unit at this time and there was no ETA for it.
I experienced something similar to this a few months ago with Cambridge Soundworks and the CS rep told me that that usually happens when the company is having quality or reliability issues.
So now, I am seriously alarmed. I've not ordered the HK receiver but I am having a rather difficult time finding reliability records of other mfrs.
Any thoughts on HK or recommendations of other mfrs or receivers is very much appreciated.
My associated euipment is:
Technics A10
Ascend Acoustics all the way around
Sony sub
Gateway EDTV plasma

The quality control issues and such for H/K is one of the most dated audio forum bum rumors going on the net. When are they going to stop talking about this and get up to speed? LOL While it was true years ago with some various pieces it is completely not the case now. H/K is long past issues it had with a few products and has since returned to making industry leading gear. It's as good as any out there, if not better...

Thanks. The poster who mentioned the issue did say he was a "former" HK dealer (presumably dumping them for the QC problems) and he did say that this was the case a year or so ago and they may have corrected the problem.I just can't find any corraborating evidence anywhere! I can't find any published documents, articles, anything that speaks to current problems with HK.
I really have my heart set on an AVR 330 to complement my Ascend Acoustics.

While I own an HK receiver and have had no problems whatsoever, I switched to the Panasonic XA-45 and it is a giant killer. Plus it has Panasonic's quality!
I have owned maybe 20 different Panasonic TVs, VHS recorders and DVD players over the past 20 years and have yet to experience even one failure. Can't say the say for NAD, Cambridge, Rotel, or Sony!
