saw today that intel, who had pushed back development and production at least once recently, now says they ain't going there. dang. they had previously said they would step in, that moore's law would apply and the resolution and cost would come down next year, yada yada... i was thinking this might be a nice advance for projection tv technology. too bad, imo. wonder if anyone else will step in.

Follow Ups:
Best implementation of LCOS I've seen are: front projection -- Faroudja (JVC-based) and Sony Qualia 004; and rear projection -- Sony 70" set.It appears that Sony is making a substantial push on its LCOS technology. I am waiting for the release of the 70" RPTV, projected for January 2005. I'm getting that set. It was the best looking RPTV at CEDIA this year by a huge margin.

Sony has kept it in, but even they may come to the conclusion that pulling out may save them from something they may not want later on.

At least, I saw LCoS RPs by these manufacturers on display this week.
I believe there's another name or two that I've left off.JVC calls their version D'ILA, right? Guess LCoS is down to getting it from two -- Sony and JVC.

And they look pretty darned good. But not good enough for me to take a chance on one.
The picture looks better than DLP and LCD rear projection, but it still suffers from intensity issues if you move too far up/down or to the sides. Though again, not as bad as DLP and LCD rear projection.
