Hello,my question is: would it make sense to buy a Home
Theater In a Box system in the U.S and use it in
Europe? My concern is different voltage and its impact
on sound quality, if any, ie receiver, subwoofer.
Consequently, would it make sense to buy a set of nice
speakers as audio speakers (columns) in my home
theater system - again, concern about sound
reproduction and concern of ac/dc transformation.
Going a step further, how about plasma/projection flat
monitors/tvs, is there a way of adding a PAL tuner so
I can use it as a regular tv in Europe? Prices and
USD/EUR are so attractive...
Follow Ups:
Better to buy source units and display devices in Europe.US equipment often lacks the multi-system capability that European market equipment has.

HTIBs in the US output NTSC only, and are hardwired for Region 1.
and the two don't mix, whether you're talking monitors, VCRs, DVD players, whatever. Unless you have a playback device that does both, and those are usually expensive.About the only American A/V gear I would consider taking to Europe (and I actually did this in the '70s) would be speakers, possibly a preamp and power amp with a BIG stepdown transformer. Everything else should be sourced over there.

Actually, DVD players that convert NTSC to PAL & vice versa, and that also play PAL & NTSC directly, can easily be found for under $150 - some for under $100. Most of these are all-region, so you don't even need to hack them to make 'em code-free. I believe most of these players have SECAM capability.A few displays in North America, such as certain plasmas, FPs and DLPs can display PAL in native format. However, the thought of purchasing a plasma and having it shipped to Europe scares the heck out of me, not to mention the power issues. I would purchase the TV overseas.
Thank you for reply.
Ok, I drop the thought of having tv shipped there.
But it might be tempting to do it for home theater and/or nice audio system: front speakers, sub, amplifier, receiver... Any hints? Tips and tricks? Please share!

Yes, a major Polish city, about 1 million people in the city and suburbs.
