Hi,Will players using this connection able to play burned movies? Or is HDCP supposed to prevent the copying of them?
Follow Ups:
Thanks Joe!Just bought a Samsung DVD HD-941 and a Sharp 26" LCD TV and get popping/clicking sounds from the TV speakers only while using the HDMI cable. The popping can come from just the left or right & usually both speakers. It is frequent and random.
I often have to "rewind" the movie because I miss dialog the popping can mask. Actually, at times, the soundtrack blanks out for almost a second. I exchanged the DVD player but got same result.
Works fine watching cable TV or using RCA cables...
Does anyone have the same experience w/HDMI cable? Thanks in advance.
Players that have an HDMI connection, if you use it, will apply HDCP only on the digital (HDMI) output. This means that the display on the receiving end will have to be HDCP compliant (able to decrypt the HDCP signal). As for the capability to play a burned disc, neither HDMI nor HDCP have any bearing on this capability. It depends on whether or not the manufacturer has incorporated this capability into the player in question.

I have a Plasma that supports all formats...noticable difference between 720p and 1080i on my set. I believe your set will down convert the 1080i signal, which might make it more noticable.
