but installer ran it out the component outs directly to he TV componet ins. That means I cannot video record it, since my video recorder has no component "in".Am I really getting hi def through a component out?
Don't I need to use that little IEEC 1994 out slot, and a line WITH A (DIFFERENT) end to the HI-def input slot on the TV?Are there DVD recorders with component in's so I can record off the hi-def box?
Any cheaper work arounds than buying another DVD recorder to match the one I bought two months ago?TIA
Follow Ups:
free HD DVR and HD satellite box (perhaps combined). I imagine you'd have to hook up either DVI, IEEE1394 and/or component output to your DVR for recording, while simultaneously feeding the video to your display. Actually, I'm clueless on the capabilities of DVR; I don't know of anyone who uses IEEE1394 except Apple computers, some digital camcorders and cable boxes. DVI/HDMI seems to be the rule nowadays. I'm not big on video recording anymore but given the lack of HD programming and not always being around to watch it IS starting to get annoying...I suspects you'll need to spend more than $425 (yuck, yuck) on DVR and/or video switching gizmo to get what you are probably looking for......
