we need speakers for a set up at work.
Follow Ups:
i thought it was a $100 pr. speaker, but the Athena AS-B1 recieved a great review in the $150 range.$100 is a tough braket to find a real speaker in. infinity and wharfdale used to have killer minimonotors around $120 years ago, but now most great entry level speakers start at around $200.
as to cambridge gear, i've always seen their stuff get thumbs ups in respectable audio mags.
if it were my budget, i'd stretch the extra $50 for athenas to be safe. i just read a favorable review for cambridge model 6s, but the pic looks like the tweeters are cheap cones instead of true domes like the athenas. a good tweeter can make a huge difference in sound.

http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/athena_asb1.htmyou might be able to find athenas cheaper than $150 if you shop around. wait... i just found them for $100 at audio advisor:

i knew i'd seen AS-B1s selling for just $100 somewhere. this reply is just to make their $100 price visible. i forgot to change the title of my original reply once i found them.they sure do look nice for the price too. good luck finding speakers to make you happy on the cheap. it is possible to find nice ones at $100 and up. heck, even those radioshack aluminum 2 ways that sell for $50 a pair aren't too shabby. i have a pair sitting around still.
the athenas would definately put more bass out though with their larger cabinets and 5 1/4" woofers.

Cambridge Soundworks Model 6 direct from Cambridge Soundworks website. The clearance page sometimes has them for a little as $90 with shipping, sometimes a fair bit more (but still OK?)
They are a durable, well put together, decent sounding speaker,... and would have a 10 year warranty.
Consumer Reports on speakers loved them (I put zero stock in this, but it might comfort those at work signing off on the purchase).
Click the picture to go to the website, the link for a random review ; go to *main* speakers from the menu on left of Cambridge outlet webpage,...if the link doesn't go straight to the Model Six.

Nice size, and surprizing sound quality for the money. Mike.

Most likely would be used speakers in this price range. I've picked up Mission 760i, Wharfdale Diamond Anniversary 7.2, and Radio Shack LX Pro 5 for this price bracket.
