  HDMI is great but be careful not to select a DVD player with the Faroudja de-interlacing chip (FL 2310). It's a great chip but Panny plasmas display severe macro-blocking when hooked up to a source unit with it. It's an unfortunate situation.

    Got a Panasonic DMR EH 55 DVD recorder which was also recommended by
    the shop that supplied the plasma, thus no problems and I have to also admit that it is a great recorder, on XP it would be difficult
    to tell the difference between the original and the recording.
    The sound is also a big improvement on my previous Sony DVD player.
    I am a very happy boy, but the HDMI card (150$)is still tempting.

  Every comparison I've seen between HDMI and component has resulted in the HDMI being superior.

  It was also true with my son's 52" Mitsubishi and my 32" Sharp LCD.
