You might try an Acoustat TNT-200. They go used for about $400-500. Amazing slew rate, and high damping factor. Sold for around $1100 new, if memory serves.

I used one to drive a pair of subs I made a few years back that used Dynaudio 30W54 drivers and the sound was outstanding.
