My Toshiba 40H80 has only 2 video inputs on the back. I need 3 and the ability to preserve the digital signal. Is there a switcher that would work or a surround processor/preamp or a surround reciever?
Suggestions on brand and models welcome.
Thank You
Mitch

I believe that in acquiring a 'newer' AV receiver with multiple Video '"in's" will allow you to do what you want. Keep in mind that most of the time if you go into the receiver w/s-video or composite then you MUST go 'out' of the receiver the same way.Hence, if you TV has both an s-video and a composite/component (whichever you need) hook them both up and use the AV receiver for the switcher. I'm currently using a Denon AVR5700 and have found no image degradation qualities that I've noticed. I'd recommend the Denon line to any AV enthusiast. I used to use a mid-line Yamaha but the overall "direct" music quality was not there for me. The Yamaha's have some excellent DSP simulations that the Denon can't touch, but I wanted more and cleaner power for music and movies.
If this is not the answer you were looking for, feel free to e-mail me & I'll try to clarify.
Thanks for the info. That is what I am looking for.
Will it preserve the digital signal and send it to the TV?
Would you be able to recommend something a lot less $$$. The Toshiba 40H80 is my second system and don't need that much power. My main system is built around a Mitsu 55857 which has all my audio gear. Audible Illusion M3 preamp and quicksilver M60 around and a quicksilver GLA. Vandersteen's around as well. Currently have a Fosgate 5.0, which will be upgraded soon to a rotel surround processor.
Thanks,
Mitch
Wheezer, please see the link below. The pricing is MSRP but you can get an The AVR-1601 has a power rating of 60 x 5, with 3 composite AND 3 s-video in's but claims to only have 1 optical and 1 coax digital in. This one can be had for an MSRP of $399.00, which is pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things.
So you need to figure out what you (really) require to complete this system. Remember to account for any upgrades that may be in the "deep dark hallows" of your mind before purchasing anything.
Good luck & e-mail me if you need any more info.
