i'm looking for a very high-quality audio/video/s-video switcher for my system. most of the ones i've seen (sony, radio shack, sima) are cheap and would compromise sound and picture quality. there is one high-quality one, the Entech DAV-4.1, it seems nice but is a little expensive. also, if i'm switching between svideo and video sources, and i output both svideo and video to my TV, i'm not sure my TV will auto-detect which of the two is active... i think most TVs will prioritize the S-video input if something is connected, whether it is active or not. any way around this w/o having to switch inputs on my TV? what would be nice is a switcher with a built-in high quality comb filter to always output svideo no matter what, but that is probably either not made or very expensive. i was debating making my own switcher, but that would be a lot of trouble for something fairly simple. i would basically just like seamless switching of mixed video/svideo sources into a single svideo tv input with minimal video AND audio signal loss. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at the switchers at www.markertek.com?, With out a syncronized switcher, the best you can do is a vertical interval switcher, which they have many to choose from. I am not aware of TV's that auto switch, or detect. If the switcher you pick supports both s/video and composite, it will have to have the neccessary electronics, which shouldn't effect the quality much. Maybe a matrix switcher is more of what you are looking for. Now, with the matrix you can assign any input of say 4 inputs to any of 4 outputs and visa versa. Inputs & outputs can be s/video or composite, say 2 for 2. That way all s will go to an s output, and composite to composite, with out noisy electronics, just switching. Go to the markertek homepage and search matrix switchers. Hope this helps.
