I live in Los Angeles, Ca. I'm in the market for a new TV. I've narrowed my choices down to two models. I like the Loewe Aconda 30" and the Philips 34PW9815. I've read the write-ups in Audio Reveiw, but I'd like more input. Any thoughts regarding these models. Both have great features. I'm leaning toward the Aconda. Though it's smaller, it truly is a magnificent piece of machinery. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with the Philips? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, Sensory Science's web site has yet to be updated with information about the Aconda. I am told it is their hottest selling TV Set.Dave
go for 16x9! I really like my Planus, but now that the Aconda is for sale here in the US, I want one! For 4x3 viewing, I simply put it in cinema mode, and the screen is filled with image. Go for the Aconda, you know you find it the most desirable, so go with your gut instinct and personal auditioning. Good luck, btw, how much can you buy the Aconda for?www.loewe.de

FIRST OFF:
the loewe uses the philips tube!second: go for the loewe calida!
why? 1080, 760p, 480p on broadcast, 3/2 pulldown built in,
high quality parts,16 x 9 squeezei know for a fact that all managers at the good guys
have or want the loewe not the philips!i have a loewe and i love it!
you can pick up a calida "open box" for $1900!!!!
so what if it is not wide screen?
the 16 x 9 squeeze works great, its got 3/2 pulldown,
and you save a grand!
Wow! That's a passionate response! I will check out the Calida this weekend.Thanks.

i just got the loewe 2 weeks ago.
i can not believe how good the picture is when
you get it home and set it up right.
i looked at sony wega, panasonic, philips, mitsub, proton,
they just are the best picture you are going to get
unless you go high def.
but for dvd, and regular broadcast the loewe has a very
high end line doubler.
example: i was watching the news the other day, and they
showed some guys working on a highway, well this guy
is wearing a safety vest and the tv is showing it a true
FLORESCENT YELLOW! IT BLEW MY MIND TO SEE THAT KIND OF A COLOR.
KEEP IN MIND THAT I HAVE HAD PROTON TV,S BEFORE.
the blacks are jet black,WHITES PURE WHITE,PICTURE IS
SOLID LIKE FILM
I own the 30pw9815, the 30' version of the 34. Overall exceptional. Great color great line doubler. The menus are a little clunky to get around in. I wish it had two HD A/V inputs. This would allow a Set-Top box and a Progresive scan DVD player. I don't know of any HDTV that does at this time. I looked at the Loewe, not impressed. The tube on the Philips is much better IMHO. RCA has a new 38' TV that looks cool too.
Thanks for the input. I've been to two stores. At one, the Aconda had a much nicer picture. At the other store, the Philips took the prize. Obviously these sets aren't going to be tweaked for optimum performance at your local Good Guys.Last night, I saw the model you own. The DVD picture was absolutely stunning! The 34" model was playing the same DVD right next to it, but the picture wasn't as crisp and vibrant as the 30". Again, proper adjustment probably would have done the trick. Lot's of bells and whistles on the 30pw9815. A lot more than I would probably use, but it's nice to know they're available.
After all is said and done I may opt for the 30pw9815. Even though I'd be coming down from a Sony 36 Wega, I think the 16:9 aspect would more than make up for the decreased size in height.
I saw the RCA 38" model. Nice and big but the Philips kills it IMHO.
Thanks again for the unput. Please let me know if there is anymore info you want to add in ref. to the 30pw9815.
Regards,
Seth
According to folks at Sensory Science, the 38" Aconda will be out in late June - and from what people who saw it a CES say, it kills the 38" RCA
