In Reply to: Any diff. between Composite, and S-Video? ? ? posted by Hantra on June 03, 2001 at 00:31:05:
Hi,I'v just change to s-vhs and in my point of view is a wonder. I have a DLP-projector for home cinema and using composite is just awful. The picture flickers especially in DVD-menus but also when displaying movies. The next step I'm investigating is the difference between s-vhs and component-video input. My projector handles this as well but my DVD-player don't. Does anybody have experience about the diff. between s-vhs and component-video?

Composite (good), S-video (better) and component(best).
Some of your questions can be answered here:http://daveola.com/Pages/Projector/FAQ.html#howmany
Generally speaking, the differences between s-video and component are not as great as the differences between s-video and composite. For instance, I notice a tremendous increase in resolution when switching from composite to s-video. When I switch from s-video to component, I actually think it looks worse. Why ? I haven't a clue. Maybe because I used 3 seperate video cables (I had some extra ones) instead of a pre-packaged one like monster cable. Or maybe my projector's component ins are inferior.
What I find interesting with your situation is why your picture flickers ? That is something I would definitely ask about in this forum.
