If you are, test to see if it will play "burnt" media. I've owned the DVD-A310 and the DV-RV65 and neither on of them would play the burnt stuff.
I am now using a Pioneer from Modwright. Dan W did a fabulious job.Good luck,
Fish
Follow Ups:
The newer Pannys are based on DVD-ROM drives, and are capable of playing back CD-R and CD-RW.The quick "hint" is if the player can play back MP3 CDs, or is firmware upgradable with a CD, it's a DVD-ROM drive.
Remember the goal of the transport is to get the bits off the disc, and DVD-ROM drives are excellent for this task (and much easier to engineer!)
