Want to see it again some time. Not for everyone though.

I really liked the texture, pace and storyline and you really get the sense of the small Swedish village.
fun and creepy
thanks

A good sneak peak at a socialist society where everyone is somewhere between poor and lower middle class. Obama has us well down this path.
It took two viewings to totally understand the full depravity of the vampiress.
Also took two viewings to see the foreshadowing and other artistic touches.
Good movie, but unsettling.
We'll have to agree to disagree about global warming until the next global cooling scare comes along
appropriate as you mentioning politics in this decidedly unpolitical film.
Agreed, politics has nothing to do with the movie other than to provide a backdrop. I tend to mostly post on the "Outside" so I sort of get jaded at times.
We'll have to agree to disagree about global warming until the next global cooling scare comes along
The only politics in this film are personal and sexual.
But he retracted himself wisely....
Donīt think it has anything political.
It a dark somber poem.
I would even not try to analyze it in ANY way.
All you has to known is some basic on Stockerīs book or the 1000+ film on this theme.
But the beauty of Eli is haunting. A sexless all in her eyes beauty.
It's not the best film about vampires or adolescents, at least imho, but it's leagues above the usual fare. Well done and highly recommended for a thinking audience. Those looking only for chills and thrills need not apply.
I've seen in recent years.
I can't think of an adolescent film clearly it's superior nor of a vampire film that isn't over seventy years old which tops it.
Perhaps you'd supply a few examples you find better?
If you think the film is the ne plus ultra of vampire films then I'm happy for you.

Why should I humor you when all you want to do is start another pissing contest? I'll name a film or two and you will tell me how stupid I am because I don't agree with you.
That's the end of my participation in this thread.
I thought "Let the Right ..." was outstanding.
I felt the only weakness in the film was that Eli (the vampire) didn't seem "old" ... at all. Her real age was implied to be around 50 years old however, her character never conveyed a depth of life experience. She always played it kind of like a "kid".
All that said, I found "Let the Right ..." one of the most original Vampire films I've ever seen.
In reference to your statement about a "better" film, I have to admit "Right One"might be hard to beat.
"Shadow of the Vampire" might be worth mentioning as a film that is comparable and debatably "better".

to be her new keeper so maybe that is why she 'acted' young
thanks

No I donīt think you should think at all in this film, but more like a paper boat left out on a river.
Knowing the basic on vampires, wonīt hurt you.
at least in part. Being a thinking viewer does not mean you can't enjoy the more visceral and creepy aspects of the movie. It does mean you reject the crassness and overwhelming cliches of your standard variety vampire flick. The horror in your typical vampire film is in the scripting and, typically, acting. "Let The Right One In" is beyond that and was obviously written and made with a little more than average care.
"Thinking" does not mean one has to analyze it. It does mean that the filmmakers didn't aim for the brainless. Lord knows, there are more than enough of those about.
And it is my fault. I put weight on one side only, while you can approach this film certainly on many a side.

Do you remember the title of your review?
I make a search but..
main body of my post. Truly bizarre.
Anyhow, I remember saying more but I just can't find it. I didn't realize the search function sucked.
I can not agree BTW on describing it as an horror film.
I surely be the only one..

Not just a great "vampire" film, but one of the best movies about adolescence I've ever seen.
The main story is just about growing up, with all it taboos and anger and frustration.
Not the least a political film.
