I never cared much for any of his films, with a possible soft exception of Carlito's Way. Then why mention him now? Well, Netflix had his Femme Fatale in streaming, so I looked.
I have to say I was disappointed even given my less than enthusiastic opinion of his work in general. His trademark music started being utterly irritating and oh-so-reminiscent of Body Double after just a few minutes, and watching it quickly became a chore. I mostly watched it for European scenery.
Follow Ups:
I'm not generally a fan of excess, but I quite enjoy Blow Out and Body Double. Blow Out is no Blow Up but it's well done - and the latter is pretty hilarious, especially for cinephiles. It's as loosey goosey as De Palma gets.
The Untouchables is hooha but terrifically entertaining and finely crafted hooha. I always watch it when it's on cable. Love the soundtrack, and like all De Palma movies, it's gorgeous to look at.
I haven't seen Casualties Of War in a long time. I regarded it as a "miss" at the time, but it has some devastating scenes in it.
I might be charmed by a director with a Hitchcock fixation nowdays, who knows.

They are like train wrecks. (-:
I don't like them much, but for some reason I kept watching them. Recently I decided to stop. The ones I have enjoyed a little are like Ed Wood films...so bad they are good. "Sisters" comes to mind.
When I was in my early 20s I liked "Obsession" until I was able to see "Vertigo" as an adult.
...I'm not much of a fan of DePalma's work, since I've not even seen most of them. Some, tho, I really like, such as...
Mission to Mars, almost the only space-travel movie I like.

The Untouchables

Scarface?
I don't think so.
Sure, he obviously was influenced by Hitchcock, but he sure isn't slavish. And I'd put Casualties of War up there ahead of a lot of better thought of war films, too. Carlito's Way and The Untouchables are great entertainment, as well.
All in all, the guy's established a singular style and made some fine films. Not necessarily intellectually ground-breaking, but what the hell. Sometimes you just want some fantastic escapism. He has done it about as well as anyone.
He's also been extremely influential.
I would add "Snake Eyes" to that list. It's absolutely a directorial tour-de-force that improves and amazes every viewing.
Scarface a good film?

... a great raunchy cartoon story told with utter abandon - "Scarface" a classic of its own making.
The scene in the restaurant when all goes to heck is a masterpiece - tight, awful and true.
The relationships, the local, the journey travelled is...De Palma's best?
I like to think so, along with "Carrie" of course.

When was last time you didn't like a film? :)
If it keeps going like this, you will end up ordering a BR of Eyes Wide Shut. :(

Although I like De Palma films - I see your point. "Scarface" is sometimes laughable... almost silly ... "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!" But despite De Palma being overly dramatic...when this occurs - it's successfully operatic.

...including of Femme Fatale. Definitely one of De Palma's "on" pictures ("off" ones being Mission to Mars, Redacted, Bonfire of the Vanities, Black Dahlia). Always thought of him as style over substance, but what a compulsively watchable style! And the pitch-perfect soundtrack based on "Bolero".
