The local Regal Cinema (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) has ushers walk through the auditorium while the movie is playing. These ushers have large, brightly lit cone-lights that they hold up like the frakking statue of liberty. They walk from one end of the theater to the other, twice, then come back and do it again.
They say this is 'corporate policy'. It's the STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN.
I cannot get anyone at Regal to answer the phone so I can ask them if this really is a 'corporate policy' that they HAVE TO DO.
I no longer go to this theater, so that's pretty much it for me and movies.
This really pisses me off.

Many, many years ago, I worked in the local theater. We were *required* by the manager to walk up and down the isles periodically, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. There's a reason for it. Cleaning up after the shows was a nightmare. We'd find half eaten burgers, empty beer and liquor bottles, half smoked joints, used condoms, used syringes etc.
Jack
That's why they do it.
I wished they did that at the two Regals here. We have a "Cinemark" that has the strongest "don't dare use your cell" message I've seen: ".... we know who you are and will have you leave the theater".
I've noticed that texting and cell usage crosses all socioeconomic lines and should be punishable with prison.
At least in the area where I (used to) live (northern NJ) similar activities were done almost to the early 70's before theatres started cutting back on the use of ushers. The flashlight was a mandatory piece of equipment. and even though there were no cell phones you had better be talking in at maximum a whisper if at all or you got that flashlight shined right in your face with a loud, audible SHHHHH! On the rare occasion violators were shown the exit. I wish all theatres had this practice today to handle the rude teens (an adults) carrying on loud conversations, texting and out right talking on cell phones.
And its a good policy, way preferable to listening to screwups ruin the show -- which is fast becoming the new norm in theaters. Its rare to find ushers these days.
THEY DO NOT HAVE USHERS IN THE THEATER WATCHING THE AUDIENCE.THEY HAVE USHERS CARRYING LARGE, 12" LONG ORANGE LIGHTS UP AND DOWN DURING THE MOVIE.
YOU LIKE THAT????
JESUS, IT'S 100 TIMES WORSE THAN A F*CKING CELL PHONE GOING OFF.

You seem a bit strung to make it in public. Try Netflix.
DON"T SHOUT, get a life...
People in this forum really don't give a fuck about other peoples problems, do they?
If it's not happening to you it doesn't matter.
