At least in the area where I (used to) live (northern NJ) similar activities were done almost to the early 70's before theatres started cutting back on the use of ushers. The flashlight was a mandatory piece of equipment. and even though there were no cell phones you had better be talking in at maximum a whisper if at all or you got that flashlight shined right in your face with a loud, audible SHHHHH! On the rare occasion violators were shown the exit. I wish all theatres had this practice today to handle the rude teens (an adults) carrying on loud conversations, texting and out right talking on cell phones.

And its a good policy, way preferable to listening to screwups ruin the show -- which is fast becoming the new norm in theaters. Its rare to find ushers these days.
THEY DO NOT HAVE USHERS IN THE THEATER WATCHING THE AUDIENCE.THEY HAVE USHERS CARRYING LARGE, 12" LONG ORANGE LIGHTS UP AND DOWN DURING THE MOVIE.
YOU LIKE THAT????
JESUS, IT'S 100 TIMES WORSE THAN A F*CKING CELL PHONE GOING OFF.

You seem a bit strung to make it in public. Try Netflix.
DON"T SHOUT, get a life...
People in this forum really don't give a fuck about other peoples problems, do they?
If it's not happening to you it doesn't matter.
