I really liked this film and the supporting cast is very good as well

from imdb: A New York socialite, deeply troubled and in denial, arrives in San Francisco to impose upon her sister. She looks a million, but isn't bringing money, peace, or love...

the main focus is on Blanchett as her life spirals downward in a blur of booze and Xanax as she tries to grab the golden ring again after a failed marriage to Alec Baldwin.

Andrew Dice Clay is good as well (!) as are Bobby Cannavale, Peter Sarsgaard and Louie C.K. in supporting roles.

Hawkins acted Blanchett off the screen.
Underwhelming.

I do not see movies by people who f*ck their stepdaughters then leave naked Polaroids out for their mother to find.

The whole 'separate the art from the artist' is a tricky question, but this is not a hard decision for me.

    In his movie "Sweet and lowdown" he depicts an artist (guitarist Sean Penn, who at that point was best known for being the husband who beat Madonna) who is the second best guitarist in the world after Django, but who is personally a scumbag. He is trying to searate the personality from the Art.
    In the last scene Penn smashes his guitar, screaming "I made a mistake"
