I am sure you remember many unforgettable scenes in the movies that you have seen over the years. If there is one scene among all those that keeps popping up in your memory constantly, what is it?
In my case it is the last scene of 'Shane', perhaps because I saw it as a young boy. Even after 60 plus years, I wake up sad in the early mornings thinking of Alan Ladd walking away and the boy running after him. I just cant get over it. Do you have similar experience?

I don't remember what film it was, it was a Western I saw when I was young. A 'good guy' cowboy is sitting on a log making coffee when two menacing looking men walk into his camp. The annoyed cowboy says "you should know not to walk into another's camp!" And is coldly shot by the two intruders, who then sit and drink his coffee.
It was the first time I had seen a cold blooded murder and I don't remember feeling the same way until the target practice scene in Schindler's list, and Kevin Spacey's last scene in LA Confidential.

If you seen it, you know what scene I'm talking about.
...now that you mention it, I recall seeing that as a kid.
Did you have abandonment issues with your father?
What did you think about the scene in the third Star Wars movie where Darth is fighting Luke, cuts off his hand with a lightsaber and tells him, "I am your father."
My father never talked to us except to our oldest brother and sister. He was too busy and serious for us to approach. But we had a saint in the mother through whom we conveyed messages. But then as a lawyer turned politician, he had no time at all. Was a Gandhian too and ended up in jail as a freedom fighter. Mother sent him packed lunch which the guards ate.
I must admit I cried when Darth died. I had a tough time hiding the tears from the wife who was cursing him throughout. The dark theatre helped.

The night scene in the barn where the kids see Robert Mitchum cross
the ridge softly calling out, "children... children". Regards,

"Shane, come back! My mother wants you!"
Where did the music in that embedded video come from?
(Original music for J&TA was by Bernard Herrmann.)
Yeah I know, it's the only clip I could find. It's an obvious bad overdub.

Flying monkeys.
...is the last scene in the Forbidden Games.
But this is like shooting the fish... it is almost unfair, showing the suffering of kids.

Coincidental, but that was the first film that came to mind when I saw this thread. For instance,"To kill a Mockingbird"-when they find Boo Radley (R. Duvall) hiding behind the door-that scene made me weep. Same with the scene in the abandoned mine in "Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (1938?) where Tom Sawyer sings to Becky Thatcher as their candles dim in the darkness, to comfort her. And how about the Alaster Sim "Christmas Carol" when Scrooge's nephew and future niece welcome the remorseful wretch into their home?
seen, "The Ascent"? A LONG time ago you showed some interest in doing so.
It is very good, but kind of what you expect from a good Russian director - the war theme is one of the most important in the Soviet cinema, and they made many good films, usually with no artificiality so common in the Western war films... I guess if you keep doing something then you are bound to eventually become good at it. :) Even their propaganda-laden ones often speak the truth... with some exceptions.
They also made quite a few lighthearted war comedies, but I doubt these would show well here, they are too deeply rooted in the popular culture of that period - mainly their stars.

have subtitles. Netflix doesn't carry any of them, either.
Very frustrating!
Someone somewhere decides which movies to release to our market. Overall we are doing pretty good, but yes, more foreign films on Netflix would be great. However, this is market working.
