How many great pieces of music can you name in the last say, 50 years?

Those that think that's snobbish probably need to lie down with a headache after watching the opening credits of an Ozu or Carol Reed film.
Regarding their audio systems, of course, they're perfectly prepared to be "snobbish."
Elitism is in the eye of the beholder.
It is often fashionable, and oh, so cool, to be ignorant.
My point was that much of contemporary music is not exactly high art, so it only gets the right to be called art thanks to the dead old guys. Without any questions there is plenty of room for art in film... just like in any other form of expression.
As long as it is not Spielberg... :)
