Used Movie Pass to see this again and noticed Crucifix references in the war scarred areas. In fact, when they took Super's body off the hill a cross was in the background and his body was lowered as if from a cross. Was Snyder elevating Superman or lowering Christianity?

Funny: Batman saves Martha and she said he must be a friend of her sons. He asks why she asked and she replied it was the cape. That's the only giggle I saw.

...but chalked it off as more a result of the season and less to intention. However, I thought I saw the handful of dirt on the casket move right before the screen went dark. Hmmm? Also, it might just be semantics but I wouldn't say that one was being raised or lowered to the level of the other but more like equating them.
