I have a Sony 55" rear projection model KDS-55A2000 that a few months ago started showing a green tinge on some areas of the screen. Also, when the unit is on, and prior to choosing DVD/cable/etc, and the screen is blue, there is a, how do I say this, dark area in the center, almost like a "smudge" (from inside). This corresponds to the green tinge area I mentioned. I thought it was because the bulb was going bad, as I had just started getting the little "time to replace your bulb" notice, so I ordered a new one, installed it, but nope, I still see a slight green tinge when the picture is on, and when the screen is blue, the dark "spot" is still there. Any ideas? Thanks, Dave

Your TV is under warranty..youve got a short amount of time before it expires...its an extended warranty for your model....go to avsforums and look up your model...alot has been discussed on this topic
IIRC, it was 5-6 years old. Sony sold him a new, NX-810 for $700, about $1,300 under the best retail prices I've seen (bought mine at Conn's for $1,999).
Maybe that was a one-off but seems Sony is making good on this defective set even tho Russell's was almost 6 yrs old.

Thanks Joe, Holy Cow, how in the heck did I miss this? Geez. If I can't get some kind of reasonable resolution, looks like Samsung has a new customer coming up.

I have a 2005 SXRD from Sony. A model famous for the green blob issue. I didn't get it for a long time, and actually defended Sony because of that. I was in turn, labeled as a Sony Shill. Needless to say, after about 1 1/2 years, I got it too. After much denying, and several class action lawsuits, Sony agreed to have ALL of the light engines changed at their cost.
Several years later, they got out of the LCOS biz.

> Several years later, they got out of the LCOS biz.Sony still has a few SXRD products, but only front projectors, e.g. VPL-VWPRO1.

Sony messed up somewhere with their LCoS imaging chip design. JVC still sells products using LCoS technology (which they call D-ILA).
But there have been at least a few cases where some of the JVCs got the Sony cooties too.

If I'd have known you were going to say that, I would have lied and said the problem would go away. Now I feel dirty, disgusting and vile. Please excuse me while I go take a shower in bleach. And don't think you're getting off easy: for that blasphemy, you'll smoke a turd in Hell for all eternity.
huh? wtf?

This, "looks like Samsung has a new customer coming up." , is icky.
I'm hoping that Sony will fix your SXRD, but not counting on it. They did after all make a pact with the Devil to manufacture their LCD screens.
