Probably the best bets in DVD players are the Panasonics, but all new players are progressive scan. It is possible to disable the progressive scan feature and connect the player via S-VHS or component video connections. You should be able to get the RP-82 for under $200 (if you can find them). The next model down is the RP-62 and it sells for about $180. Both are very good, reliable players.
