Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

Depends on the player.

The better Denons have broadcast quality upscaling so the picture you get is basically as good as most HD content broadcast by TV studios since I gather most HD programmes are in fact upscaled SD.

The fact the programmers won't reveal how much content is upscaled says a lot.

DVDs upscaled via any Denon which uses the Realta chip are definitely good enough to make you forget about HD DVD or BluRay until the smoke clears, and should be a significant upgrade over you Samsung player.
