I have an older Sony 1080i CRT RPTV (fully ISF-calibrated) that looks very nice with HD media. I have a 1080i Loewe Aconda 38" widescreen CRT that, when fed HD content, produces a better picture in many ways than my HD LCD TV or 1080p Panasonic plasma.
The only potential fly in the ointment is that content providers have the ability to force a down-rez on component video should they so choose. So far I'm not aware of any that have taken this path, but it's always a possibility.
