RE: The "Soap Opera Effect" on LCD/LED TV's.

That is not inherant to LCD TVs; you can turn that effect off in the adjustments. Set the adjustments correctly and you'll get a smooth picture without the effect.

Information is often available at enthusiast sites about proper settings for specific TVs. Some late model Samsungs look best with "blur" set near the max and "judder" set at the bottom; the "judder" being the adjsutment that gives the soap opera look.

I have my American model 37" Samsung B-650 set pretty closely to the the settings this test at a British site recommends and the picture is excellent.
