A fantastic pre-Code vehicle for young Barbara, and she takes full advantage of that. It is style, costume, hairdo firework.
Follow Ups:
Joan Crawford was another babe in her day. "Rain" for example.
I've always been a huge fan. She's wonderful.

There's a non-pc joke about the Lesbian
who fell face-first into Veronica Lake.
The Lake, I say...
NOT the Actress.
What were you thinking?
I read somewhere of another version, a longer one, recently discovered. Do not know the details.

She sizzles in almost everything. Double Indemnity for instance.

And she chose good roles.
I agree. She and George Brent are terrific.
Barbara Stanwyck was an elegant true star of films and TV... Everything that I have ever read about Ms. Stanwyck indicates that she was loved by everyone that came in contact with her... William Holden owed his career to her as she saved him from being fired from The Golden Boy...Double Indemnity, Sorry Wrong Number, Stella Dallas, The Big Valley, The Thorn Birds and Dynasty are just SOME of her great works....They don't make them like her anymore!
And who could forget her mastery of her voice.
