Mighty fine acting, lax directing, for shit editing and the obvious, sad and painful
results of David Milch's descent into the labyrinth of Alzheimers. That would be the
problem with something SO WELL written residing on the back of someone that
just can not write as well anymore. And David Milch is ALL about his writing.
If they had made it even five years ago it may have worked.
Seemed a nostalgic, painstaking journey to a time and place that may
have thrived at one point, but was impossible to recreate.
Watch the series, it is worthy and then some.
The movie, basically, is not.

Finally watched the movie last night. It was such a let down. Skip the movie entirely and watch the series instead.
Agree completely. There were no surprises and the dialogue that was once the star of the show seemed stilted and almost out of place.
