but sadly it doesn't look very good... They should NOT have let Zellweger sing... SO difficult to imitate such an iconic voice....
Follow Ups:
I saw the trailer, that was more than enough for me. I liked her scripted work, but the singing, full drama queen was never a hit with me, but I guess it was smart to not rely strictly on her voice, which was not a very good instrument.
I favor the tommy Duncan singing style, the singer for bob wells and the texas play boys, where you just plant your feet and sing the song. No crying all over the stage or weird intonations trying to get back in tune.
sheesh, it's almost like someone stole all the comic books in town, so they switched to gay icons after the success of the queen movies. Elton john probably lived a story worth telling, but I don't care to single him beyond other probably interesting rock stars. Judy Garland? Who even remembers or cares. I would think mickey Rooney had a better story, as a male fighting persistent infantalization, like garland, but with no stage act.
I can't even see her trying to sing like Judy.
Best Judy joke ever: on MST3K
They're making their usual funny snarky comments. This time a short film about Puerto Rico. There's a segment when they show American big business located there and how it will grow. At one point they're in a prescription drug factory. It shows an assembly line making and bottling lots of pills.
Crow then comments : Sadly it went out of business when Judy Garland died.

Thanks for bothering to add that joke in, Earl. It's a hoot!!!
the woman HAD it in spades! Only a handful of artists in the 20th century could command an audience like Garland did.....
