This is rated R, not for sex and skin. Just the usual Dwayne and Jason beating folks efficiently and tossing the about. The banter between the two is often hilarious so this film is a mixture of the good, the bad, and the funny.
Elba plays a man who has nearly achieved "singularity" and is in pursuit of a virus that can selectively wipe out or build up the human race. The alluring Vanessa Kirby is Shaw's sister who becomes a pawn in the whole good/bad thing.Entertaining and fun. You know the drill: Lightweight with some really nice CGI. (We are long past doable stunts on this level.)
PS. There is a bit right after the cast credits but that's it.

I thought it was a nice buddy movie, and without question, does what it was made to do.
I was surprised they went so far into comic book territory with some of the stunts and story, but then I knew I wasn't signing up for a symposium on world problems when I bought a ticket.
Some of the early scenes were all one color, like a comic book panel, and it works well establishing the tone of the story .
From experience, I knew this film would be more fun viewed with a crowd and a giant screen. It didn't disappoint.
At one story event, where the good guys have a big corny fight against the bad guys for some kind of reason, my interior groan of. "what, this agin? was superseded by a young child's applause , she was so happy the good guys came just in time to correct a dire situation.
She clapped through the entire fight scene, which were kept brief, these guys are not stupid about story. I also heard some young cheers at the same time but they were a me too not as confident expression, since adults don't cheer at most movies, rather than the happy thank goodness from a young child.
There are some cars, but only enough to satisfy the title. Seeing how the crowd responded to stuff that I viewed more critically really brought more joy to the story, hearing how others responded differently to the same events i experienced
Perhaps not the all time babe ruth of summer movies, but it is a good strong product. I was surprised to see so many young children at an R rated movie on a sunday evening. I guess being at a mall had a lot to do with that.
at the end of the credits? I almost left before then but decided to be lazy and sit.
Man, I go to so many odd films, I make it pretty much a solid rule to stay until the house lights come up.
Some, I can't ditch fast enough, but mostly I catch the musical themes as the show closes. I also always stay for the last out at a ball game.
Some of the big modern films have important directors way down in the credits, there is such a gang of people involved. I see a second unit assistant director credit, and don't care, but hope they advance , and might remember the name when they do. .
Not a fan of the lead actors, or that type of film..
...then got bored one night and watched Furious 7.
Now I've seen them all, except the new one, which I will see.
Dean.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

While I can't quarrel with the man's tastes, I just hope he doesn't lay that "not a fan" line on an island guy fighting a bad mood. There is a good reason why football coaches always count how many samoans a team is starting. .
A real hater would have bought a ticket just to see the two guys get punched in the face, multiple times.
