I was thinking that it would be fun to go see a movie at the theater.... There isn't one damn thing playing that even slightly interests me.... Guess I'll have to wait until closer to Christmas....
Follow Ups:
It's just crap coming out of Hollywood. IMHO, it's much the same with pop music, hip-hop and rap (aka the new minstrel show.)
Whatever became of TPP?
If you have seen two thousand American films you pretty much know the stereotypes, the heroes who become villains and villains who become heroes. The story's twists and turns and how it will end. To Wit: 'Angel Has Fallen'. The difference is ACTION. That's what we 'Muricans do BEST. You can shove most anything in the Murican face as long as it is peppered with lots of ACTION. Of course, that takes budget and that is what separates our industry from the rest of the world.
PS. Has Danny Huston EVER played a good guy? Let me know.
:-)

Stale would be preferred to comatose.
So I guess things are looking up.
Recently had a Canadian embassy official introduce a canadian film, I liked it. Don't remember the name, but do remember his acknowledgment of the indigenous peoples land that made his government possible, that was new to me.
Yes. The industry is in a sad state.

Summer is probably the worst time to see new movies, as it is so kid-oriented.
But yes, Hollywood ran out of ideas years ago. Thus all the remakes and sequels.
Unless you like old sensational mass killings

as the people who don't like guns, they sure do cram enough of 'em into films and the tv trailers.
I'm just the other way, I'm having a great time. Going tonight to see old cartoons.
With this kind of stuff, movies, I never know until I go.
I recently had my preconceived concepts shown again to be a fools prison, when I went to a tiki fest and they kicked off the double feature with Gidget goes Hawaiian . Not a movie I would normally bother about, but I trusted the venue , live and learn , right? I really came out to see ifI could get a cool tiki mug, not for the movie, but I figured it could be a fun memory.
It was a blast. I know most of the fun was generated by the crowd, the phony surf scenes had everybody howling right from the start, and the scripted parts were run with such a great cast,(introducing debra wally, with carl reiner, peggy cass, etc. the whole thing was just a lot of fun. I didn't stay for the elvis movie, blue Hawaii
I suppose the music and party drinks at the tiki fest beforehand loosened up the crowd. At one point the scandinavian jazz band had a crow singing along. Nature is so great.
That band saved the experience for me. Everything else was kind of silly and fun, but these guys were capable of artistic statements, and did them well. They were stuck out in the valley for weeka, in heat and smog, being flown in to record a jazz composition. It was lucky for me they decided to hit the scene where I was. The island music was just some jokey white guy with a uke, kept it moving, family style tourist trade stuff, no band, one acoustic bass
My girls are excited about Frozen 2. 👍
Specialty theaters all over have their summer film series going on now. Surely, you can find a Hitchcock film or The Wizard of Oz somewhere near you. Plus, the summer season is usually for lighter fare.
