Robert Downey junior. He seems to miss the mark half the time. Acting nonchalantly when he needs to be serious.

Brando as Fletcher Christian in "Mutiny on the Bounty" with that phony British accent. Hilarious!
But Merrill is the better actor( except for the accents).
I thought Streep's Polish accent in "Sophie's Choice" was wonderful.
"Hello, you all. How are you doink?"
Having lived with Polish relatives through my childhood and later,I wasn't convinced. She sounded cute but not the real thing. Though I know that casting the perfect actor can be difficult. Good acting though.

That is really what I meant--cute. I wouldn't know authentic.
Imagine Al Pacino and Marlon Brando together. There should have been a movie with the former a Wall Street Executive and the latter his father, an ex cop. Could throw in Meryl Streep. Oscar for sure.

I'm not so sure Pacino is a bad actor. In Scarface he had the Cuban accent down pat, and in The Merchant of Venice he did a fine job of playing Shylock.
Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!

He looked screwed up playing that lieutenant that was messed up high on cocaine all the time. I cringed at his slurred speech and clumsy behavior. He must have been drunk while filming. He did look like a bad lieutenant. I don't know if that was good acting or not.
Leaving Las Vegas was hard to watch. Was Cage drunk?
I'm wondering if he's a better actor than i saw after first watching. He certainly assumed the character in both those roles.

It was Vampire's Kiss that clued me into the crazy genius of Nic Cage. He is not afraid to go way out out a limb. And I still love this movie.I am linking to a fantastic interview from New York Times a few weeks ago. He's shooting for 150 movies, just like the old time studio stars. Some will be good, some won't, but he strives to put his own stamp on each one.
NYT allows I think 10 articles per month, so you might not be able to read it, but it is a good interview.
Btw, here is him reciting the alphabet from vampires kiss...you will love it, as I do, or hate it.

Penn stayed so much in character that he attacked Mike J Fox offset and had to be separated from him the whole shoot of their VN movie.
Depardieu galavanted around France for a year in character as Cyrano buying rounds of drinks in outlying pubs. Nice polar opposite to Penn. (Until he peed in First Class.)

Travolta does the worst accents I have ever seen, see Killing Season, trailer starting at 30 seconds , what ever happened to coaches to help actors do decent accents? I am assuming this is a Serbian accent, but all bets are off..
for Brando he had maybe 3 monumental career milestones at best! IMHO, Spencer Tracy was FAR more versatile of an actor, and showed his pedigree in MANY film genres....
