Wonderful series of about 10 films from the pre-code era, with young Barbara already showing her obvious acting talent. A hodge podge mix of films in their diverse genre, from 1930 to 1934, her doing wide range of characters - from a farmer's wife to a sly big city dame... and she shines all the way through.
Follow Ups:
Did you see Stella Dallas? Considered very good. Remade as Stella in 1990 with Bette Midler!!
I saw a list of some old pictures of Barbara S. The Bitter Tea of General Yen, The Purchase Price, Shopworn, Forbidden, The Miracle Woman, Ladies of Leisure, The Locked Door, Ten Cents a Dance, Night Nurse, Illicit, Baby Face, Ever in My Heart.
Cheers

She is great, she and Lupino were trailblazers. All that said I really just don't like the feel of early talkies nor do I like many films from the 30's. The stars we're good or better often but supporting cast were bad. I also liked these films less the second viewing Still can't take anything away from Barbara. One of my all time favs.

it was only one season and Stanwyck won her first Emmy for the series.... It is a 1/2 hour drama series which features original or adapted for TV stories which feature Ms. Stanwyck in most of the dramas. I enjoyed it including the little intros hosted by Ms. Stanwyck in various designer gowns where she gives a preview of the night's story... What a CLASS act she was!
YES. She was a major babe.
