Probably has something to do with big heads. Merv Griffith, who was a big TV producer not just a talk show host, always measured peoples heads before he put them on TV. Literally with a pair of big calipers. He picked Pat Sajak as host for the Wheel of Fortune because he had a big head.
Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
I was sitting outside on one of the quads one summer while at the U of Oregon in 1966. A person approached from my rear. My girlfriend was facing the individual and I noticed she was staring at him.
The man asked where the theatre building was located. I pointed it out to him. Man was Kirk Douglas. He was there to visit Michael who was a student. I was amazing how small he was. Quite different from my image from his films on the big screen.
