Harley Quinn was a bigger disappointment than imagined. Skintight body stockings from frame one. Robbie was off a bit and McGregor was not well cast. The script was so repetitive that it reduced Robbie to a tiresome character by her playing a simple-minded woman-child the entire run time. The supporting cast was better.
The creative and colorful art design was very, very good. And, all the non-stop fight scenes were well choreographed. So, colorful violence sums it up.
I guess Robbie is the draw because the overall tone is not that of the somber DC Franchise but more along the lines of The Three Stooges.
Follow Ups:
I saw it, and thought it delivered pretty much what was promised, big screen sensation and light entertainment.
I wasn't expecting an award winner, I know product when I see it promoted, and don't mind watching the " here today, gone tomorrow" stuff if it looks like fun. I like movies, and once in a while, Get more than I expected.
I suffered through the first one, SS, though I nodded off at some point. The excellent reviews of the sequel got me and, appreciating some of Robbie's other work, I bit. Ugh. This film was nothing but a group of boring "dramatic" scenes interrupting fight scenes. Repetitive, unbelievable fight scenes (you know, the ones where a group of animalistic guys attack the hero but wait for each in turn to be vanquished before attacking?).
The "Birds" refers to turkeys.

character for over 20 minutes. It gets forced then old. No reason not to see it or rent it. Supporting cast semi-shined.
Not TOOOOOOO hard to watch Margot Robbie for 2 hours. The main problem with Suicide Squad is that it needed more Robbie and less everything else.
