Not me.
Follow Ups:
Studio System actors of yore entertain. Big difference. This is why I have no love for older movies. The performances and scripts are puny by comparison. The pretension of older movies is smothering. Yeah, I like a few but generally skip over the category. Time marches on and things constantly change, thank Heavens, so there is no telling where film, scripts, and actors will be 20 years from now.
of Hollywood... Spencer Tracy, Vivien Leigh, Laurence Olivier, Marlon Brando, Barbara Stanwyck, William Holden, Alex Guiness, Bette Davis, Deborah Kerr and Henry Fonda to name just a few... True many of them were just "personalities" but I hardly think that term would apply to those I mentioned and that is just the short list...
asking a female lead of today to pull off the singing and dancing at the level of yesterdays movies wouldn't get more than a laugh , and Rita was tops.
but to think that the performance in mad max could be duplicated by just anyone is nonsense., she turned in a result that few , of any era , could match.
The fact that they worked in such different eras of available roles for women makes comparisons impossible. I also don't expect many stars of today to equal a Fred Astaire in his roles , although they share the same genitalia.
To be fair, Rita was a dance, but not a singer, she was usually dubbed.
