In the end, I did enjoy it. Been on a binge of Adam Driver films... Haven't seen you over on IC in a while... It's not as fun as Outside used to be sure. I miss all the old gang from there.. ... Hope you and your family are doing well...

It's like they're forced to develop a story.
They demand a different mind set from the viewer. Just as a novel and a poem make different demands on a reader, so do more visual, cerebral films. Poems take some effort (the good ones) to disentangle, the meaning isn't obvious: that would defeat the purpose of non-declarative discourse.
The films of Tarkovski and Tarr, of Antonioni and Bi Gan make similar demands upon the viewer; he must be an active, not passive, participant.
It's certainly not for everyone---it's a completely different experience that takes time to appreciate.
