They went to the well once too often. It's pretty awful. It's all 'Fargo' gimmicks. And the guy they got to play the 'big bad'? He's ridiculous. All the characters are unbelievable.
The woman playing the obligatory 'Northern woman police officer screwed over by dumb white men' is very attractive.
But as a whole.... this is awful.

Follow Ups:
I thought Thewlis was borderline spectacular as the heavy and yes, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Carrie Coon are both very easy on the eyes.
A solid season IMHO (as is the current season)

"E Burres Stigano?"
This is the show that I currently like the most. As I write, I just finished last night's episode 10, with only 1 left.
I was a little uncertain at the start, yet another gangster war, with Chris Rock in a role that seemed a little out of his wheelhouse. And a lot of quirky characters, I kind of thought quirky just to be quirky.
But I'm fully into it. The music is just amazing. Old blues and gospel, and some very old school orchestral scores. The photography is equally good, the snowy midwest, both country and city.
And the various story lines blend and intersect, and the quirky characters start to make sense, and I am left after each episode wanting to know what happens next.
Influences clearly from Wes Anderson and David Lynch, and the previous episode 9 went a bit out of reality in the Lynch sort of way. Really good.
He does a fine job, not sold on Schwarztman tho. Even with that quibble, yes, it's an excellent season. I'll be catching the most recent episode tonight

I was fully into this season and looked quite forward to the final episode. I expected it might be long...but it was short, only 38 minutes.
I remembered reading that this show was shut down by the pandemic and had to figure out a way to film the remainder under restrictions. They said they thought they did a good job.
I'm not so sure. It seems to be a mad rush to tie up loose ends and get the principals out of the picture. Lots of quick resolutions to every plot thread. I found it generally a big step below the thoughtful and somewhat mysterious atmosphere that had been established throughout the series. A rather unsatisfying and disappointing end. I would much rather have had things left ambiguous than all these quick killings.
The pervious episode tho, crackin' good. All in all, a very good season but a notch below their best.
