My silly beau is watching those soaps so I was forced to watch an episode of each. Predictably Asian smart arse assertive tech wiz woman takes a lead minutes after her only family is murdered by mercs. Another asian tough girl is the president chief of staff and wipes the floor with obviously corrupted white middle aged patriarchy, didn't watch further and finished the bottle so that would be the night agent.
The diplomat is even better. Assertive, thin shapely arsed girl is an US ambassador in UK. Her marriage to looking like a melancholic useless drunkard is ending . Of course the smartest characters are two super xxx of certain minority and ab Asian girl surrounded by goofy white Anlosaksons including a clutz playing British prime minister all of that in the midst of Russian invasion in Ukraine with healthy dose of official MSM propaganda in the background. I had to pull another bottle to fall asleep. I'm sure both productions are a big hit on Netflix. Highly recommended for the members of Asylum from " the new world"
Follow Ups:
Liked the ending. Of course we had to have a red herring or 2(?) thrown in to make it run 8 episodes. I found it as good as Homeland's first cupla seasons with the feel of The Americans thrown in.

Finished S1, can't wait for S2. Very intelligent writing.
Here is an article with opinions of actual state department employees including some who consulted on the show.

Since Russel was the exec producer I think she wanted a breakout role to show her range. I always appreciate high production values and it was a pretty experience. I'm amazed at how busy Rufus Sewell stays. He's really good as the snaky, "what's he really up to" political operative. Being filmed in England means a cast bristling with diversity and inclusion. It worked well as the ensemble was excellent.

I never saw Hal being a drunkard in any way, shape, or form. Of course I'm only 4 epis in and, he may turn out to be one but, imho, that's highly doubtful IMHO considering his standing in the corridors of power. I couldn't agree more about the secondary casting. Can't wait to finish the seasonThe Night Agent isn't bad but not nearly as compelling as it immediately got put on the back burner as soon as the Diplomat came out and, of course, there's also Beef vying for viewing time.

I only wrote that Hal looked like a melancholic drunkard which he does. I'm glad you ladies are enjoying that soap bulshit full of woke undertones and propaganda idiocy. I agree the scenery and interior are nice as is the ass of US ambassador. I lasted 40 min of the first episode concluding the series suitable for college girls and dimwitts
Since for over 20 years I don't have TV and cable internet at home I only have a chance to watch from time to time at my GF's house. Once one is out of circulation it's really hard to swallow the amount of idiocy being pushed on people. And it spreads like a disease over the world.
I tried to watch contemporary Polish dramas and it's all Pollywood. They speak half English slang and mimic certain minority if it comes to fashion and so called "coolness" and soundtrack is most of the time English too. Meh
It's better to take a dog for a walk instead.
but I'm betting they'll tough it out and carry on.

I agree about nice scenery and interiors if that kind of value you had in mind. In all other aspects it's a garbage unfortunately.
