Every Wednesday I go to Fandango to see the new movies opening at our local theaters. As it has been for awhile,I find absolutely nothing of interest. Last movie I went to was "...Crawdad Sings". I realize it's summer and the focus is on the younger crowd, but it is very sad. Not all that long ago, my wife and I, or just I, would go almost once a week.
Follow Ups:
I really like foreign movies to see other cultures and what is going on in the world, something Hollywood is not good at with only a few exceptions.
I wonder what is the best service to see this as I don't have the patience to get so many subscriptions?
Also lots of excellent English language films as well.
We have Netflix and watch many of their TV serial shows from countries around the world. Like you suggest, opens your experience. Of course, there will be subtitles, but if you're really subtitle adverse many are dubbed in English. We prefer to read the subtitles.
They also have movies from across the globe. Same subtitle issues.
I had movie pass when it came out and even though all those movies were nearly free, I got bored.
There's nothing that has high enough standards to see. Netflix is even worse. Youtube documentaries are somewhat satisfying.
I have gone back to my solitude listening to classical and ambient electronic on Quobuz.
Next I might listen to audio books to see it they capture some interest
At least with audio books and documentaries, I can close my eyes and still follow along
We like the movie theater, but the recent crop has not been interesting.
