    ..I watch this director's material for historical significance and for lessons on filmmaking. I appreciate him but he does not yet touch my deeper sympathies.
    
    I like much of the technical aspects, i.e., camera work, staging, etc. but find his social/cultural commentary (if that's the right characterization) often too apparent and heavy-handed.
