I inadvertently rented two by Lee; The Ice Storm and Hornery Cowpokes.
The Ice Storm I made it all the way through and wished I hadn't; I hat Joan and Kevin, tow bad actors, especially him. He is such a bad actor has is a parody of himself. As for Cowboys in Love, 15 minutes was it. It may have been a good script, but
Follow Ups:
Pretty damn good, but then, look at the actors: Emma Thompson (great), Alan Rickman (perfectly cast), Hugh Grant (before we knew he was going to play the same character his entire damn career). Give it a shot-funny and enjoyable, if not high art.
Don't forget the abysmal, overstuffed turkey of an affair he made with of INCREDIBLE HULK. I remember seeing a documentary showing that he actually had himself animatronically wired so that he could potray the Hulk's physical outbursts himself. You have to wonder what kind of thought process leads a diminutive and, based on my impression of him in the documentary, somewhat metrosexually-oriented individual like Lee come to the conclusion that HE is best person for this role in a film that had a production budget in the scores of millions. I think Pee Wee Herman could have done a better job, seriously.
But then again, it was one of the worst screenplays of the decade.
