Speaking for myself, I thought of Joel Siegel as a great film critic whose charismatic wit will be sorely missed. He was clever, insightful and could give a bad review with such perfectly timed punchline that even if you personally liked the film being dissected you'd have to grin at his wry take-down. Even an Oscar winning film editor would be hard pressed to cut a movie as cleverly as he could. So, so long Joel; I'm sure that I speak for many who appreciated your clever observations and wish that you could've stuck around for the third act.

You will forgive me not to take a direct position to that.
Audiophilander posts that Joel Siegel passes and is a tragic loss. In response, rather than something like "yea, he loved films...", or "he brought some notoriety for some good films to the public...", You post only of the four films he placed in his top ten with the cursory "no comment", which I took, accurately I think, as something of an insult, and which seemed a little inappropriate in a thread in what amounted to an obituary and remembrance.
Sort of reminds me a little of those who criticised Jerry Falwell before he was in the ground.
An insult not to agree with a film critic?
Is death the guarrant for not being critisised?
Audiophilander wrote the words of regrets for his passing and that was it.
In fact I never had heard about him before.
When I read the obtuary in the web, I check on him and he seems to have humour, in a way I found nice.
Later came this post of AudiP.
His choice of films and the critics I read from him are terribly bad.

No. But there is a time and place for everything. Perhaps a different thread. Perhaps some comment before he passed away. Nobody is perfect, and I would not, and I doubt you would not, appreciate someone criticising a loved one or family member at the time of their passing. So why do it to another person? You never know if a good friend or family member comes here. Perhaps a little senstivity is in order. Or, apparently, not. Consider, though, you are the only person who felt the need.
No we differ. I would always says my opinion, if the occasion is there, and the Film Forum is one of them, to tell what is on my mind.
I may have to little of sensivity in the common sense, but much more in the uncommon than most.
As for me death is no taboo.
So you take your pick, I take mine.

Not sure why sensitivity in both is not something we should strive for, rather than just one.

The first 15 minutes were good.
Narnia turned to New Zealand brown parrot (kaka) after the first 15 minutes and only worsened. One of the most manipulative (preachy), poorly acted, badly staged (obvious sets mixed with inconsistent CGI) films I've ever seen.

It also was a bad Alice in Wonderland.
I remember watching him do film reviews on the local news in New York City years ago before he went national. I always thought he did a good job. RIP.
