Adding to the not surprising large number of film and video versions is this superb recent adaptation directed by Roman Polanski, who is at the peak of his form. The captivating story is honored here, and the casting and acting are first rate and dead on. The musical score is constant and wonderful, almost a character. Some of Dickens' plot coincidences are wisely dropped. From start to finish, an authenic treat and especially appealing to children.
Follow Ups:
in 'Oliver.' The best musical adaptation.
things have never been good and they don't intend to get better.

Reed little bit more sinister.
things have never been good and they don't intend to get better.
... isn't it?
Even the backgrounds as I remember it are very good.
