Takashi Miike's "Imprint" is the most horrifyingly appaling and compelling "horror" film I've ever seen. The plot is simple enough and actually unimportant to what you see. You see brutality, rape, abortion, fetuses, and the most graphically realistic torture ever put on screen.
The actual torture is the center piece of the film and while torture itself is not "scary" it is horrifying in it's detail and imagined pain of the beautifull victim. Miike and his makeup artist have set the bar for realism by keeping it simple but effective.
This movie is not for everyone. I understand it was banned from cable tv and was part of the Masters of Horror series produced by Showtime. All the actors did fine jobs and for the first time ever I paid attention to Billy Drago. Drago can actually act! This is the first time I've seen him given a chance to "get into" a role and he did well.
I'm not reccomending this one-hour film--just making you aware of it.

Follow Ups:
Takahishi Miike was; one of the songs was dedicatd to Miike.
Netflix has it in their "watch now" section! I'll definitely check it out.

a five-star film.
"Audition" is truly terrifying and I can't believe this other one could be any more.
