Expert sniper Markie Mark gets framed in an assasination and goes after the insider bad guys. This one just crept up the Netflix list 'til it showed up in the mail box, and I didn't expect much. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Mostly unbelievable feats and skills, but non-stop and well done action, lots of blood, and competent cast. Wahlberg seems to be filling the B-movie action void left by sagging Ahnold and over-the-hill Stallone.
When you're circling the drain, it doesn't really matter whether you're spinning to the left or the right.
Follow Ups:
There was a very similar movie whereby the guy is setup to look like the bad guy shooter and he spends the rest of the movie making it right. Thought it was a Wesley Snipes movie, but can't seem to identify it on his filmography. Nonetheless, I've essentially seen this movie before in another incarnation. Anyways, Shooter was just way too predictable (but then what movie isn't ?!?)

I've scoped for rising Rainbows from the ridge that the snipers are sighting from.
The movies delivers on it's promise of non stop action and gore, if I had to watch another Markie Mark Movie(tm) it would be 'The Big Hit' or that overlooked gem 'Three Kings'.

...have a stroke? His speech seemed garbled and he's really starting to look aged.
I noticed it; reminded me of people who've had throat or larynx cancer.

summer movies, I think Shooter holds up well compared to the other drivel. I liked it more, e.g., than "Live Free and Die Hard." YMMV.
the film surprised me and I ended up thoroughly entertained.

"You can safely assume you have created God in your own image when he hates all the same people you do."
...the ending seems tacked on.
