Saw this film for the first time a couple evenings ago and wanted to post about it for those who haven't seen it.
It was made by the people who brought us the original Outer Limits. Starred William Shatner just before Star Trek. Was kind of like a cross between The Outer Limits and The Seventh Seal, if you can believe that. The leading actress even reminded me of Bibi Andersson!
This is also the only film even made in Esperanto...with English or French subtitles of course.
Better than any of the Outer Limits episodes, but way short of a real Bergman film. Some interesting cinematography, spooky music, plus perhaps the best performance I've ever seen by Shatner!
Definitely an oddity to check out!

Follow Ups:
Interesting that the camera department on this thing read like a who's who...including Conrad Hall, (Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Blood Simple, American Beauty, Road to Perdition, et. al.) who was the cinematographer (which would equate with the "interesting cinematography" comment from earlier) while William Fraker (Rosemary's Baby, Bullitt) was the camera operator; both before they were out of reach of the budget of this thing.
Other then that it was a bit of a stretch, for me, to find anything much in this one.
...was my relative (mother side Milosevic) he got wacked by Mickey Rooney's goons for screwing his wife Barbara. Later they say he 'commited murder-suicide.' (Right!)
to be THE international language. Obviously, this was part of that thinking.

That's interesting. Someone should email Leonard Maltin. His 2006 book claims it's the first, and so far only, film in Esperanto.Rod
