Another cracklingly good fun film from Tarrantino. Basic an homage to B-Movie exploitation film with lots of leggy girls being chased down by a killer who uses his deathproof car for slayings rather than knives, machetes , or other carving utensils. Kurt Russel is back to playing an evil version of his Snake character from the 80s.
Tarrantino has his usual fast and oddly surreal dialog and blends the 1970's era into the 1990s.
This is one half of the Grindhouse playbill with Roddriguez's "Planet Terro" being the Zombie film other half. I have not been able to download an English version of this one yet but Deathproof is a lot of fun.
Many of you will appreciate the use of real stunts without a lot of cutting in the editing room which makes the stunts look more realistic.
Follow Ups:
but the roller coaster ride was the second half of the film - Holy Cow!!! as my brother says "hold on to your ass Fred"
It is funny that the stunt lady had not acted before - I never noticed a bit, she was terrific
... and still entertaining! I almost thought I was at the drive-in back in '74. Anybody remember Blood Feast?
...was an actual stunt woman, the body double for Uma Thurman in Kill Bill 2.
I like this half the best in Grindhouse - too bad he didn't iclude the phony B movie previews.
I've seen in a film in a long time.
definitely bears the Tarrantino stamp..:) I also enjoyed the movie & Kurt was excellent too!
