Another good film. The lead actor also plays extremely well in Tarkovsky's Solaris.
Next stop... Crime and Punishment? Smoktunovsky is wonderful in it.
Also, from classics... The Karamazov Brothers, War and Peace. Plus - wealth of work based on Chekhov's writing.![]()

I "reviewed" W and P a few weeks ago here. I'll follow up on your classic other adaptation recommendations.
You mean Banionis, the lead actor in Solaris.
But the actor who played King Lear was Jüri Järvet, who also played very well Dr. Snout in Solaris.
Bondarchuk is the one who played Pierre in W&P. he also directed the Waterloo, with Rod Steiger as Napoleon - another strong recommendation (Patrick did not like it... bummer!).
