What a hoot! On UHD this morning, but no LFE track? BTW, Ava Gardner may very well be the most beautiful woman ever. And how about that fro on Victoria Principal.
Follow Ups:
back in 1974. I was astounded it was her when the credits rolled. I guess she had passed her prime by "Dallas" already...
Original movie in theater. Hot bright summer day. This was in the days when you could buy a ticket to a movie, come in at the middle and stay as long as you wanted, watching the movie over and over. I arrive 15 minutes before the finish. Pitch dark in theater and I couldn't see a thing. I stopped so my eyes could adjust to find a seat. Suddenly the last aftershock took place and I happened to be standing right next to the sensurround unit. I didn't even realize it was there until it started up it was so dark in theater. No LED's lighting the floor. Those didn't show up for decades. Will never forget this..it shook me up. Was wonderful.

I was about 12 when it came out. About all I remember was a bunch of extra really large speakers in the theater. I am a bit suprised that no LFE track was added to version aired on UHD yesterday. The film transfer seemed to be of pretty good quality. A little sub rumble seems like a no brainer to me.
can't you see a couple bass shakers hooked up to such a soundtrack, so the funiture vibrated noticeably whenn the quake hits?
When Ava got swept away in the sewer the audience I was with broke into applause.
I believe that this is one of only three movies released in Senssurround, the other two being "Midway" and "Roller Coaster". According to the commentary on the atest "Apocalypse Now" DVD at one point Coppola wanted to use the process for that film along with shooting it in IMAX. But of course it ended up being the first film in 5.1 and won an Oscar for "Best Sound".
"There's only 10 pounds of Frank, but there's 110 pounds of cock."
(Her response when asked what the World's Most Beautiful Woman saw in such a "runt.")
